Therapy Style:
We all long to feel cared for and connected with others; feel confident about our work and our place in this world; be creative and enjoy challenging endeavors. However, despite our best intentions, we often find ourselves displaying poor judgement and/or actively harming ourselves or others with our decisions or actions. Ever wondered why that is?
At times we may feel hurt, anxious or fearful and find that we protect ourselves from these uncomfortable feelings by a variety of different behaviours, which may include: getting angry, criticising, binge eating, compulsive shopping, gambling, drinking, using drugs, feeling depressed and/or suicidal - or just plain procrastination, when all we really want is to be healthy and feel good about ourselves.
With compassion we can identify and transform our amazing internal defense system; de-activate the "triggers" that result in unwelcome behaviors, thoughts and feelings. Remove the barriers that prevent us from connecting with our natural healing resource qualities of confidence, creativity, calmness, connectiveness, curiosity and compassion.
Inga offers clients the opportunity of working with a psychotherapist not only trained in traditional individual and relational psychotherapy models, but also in one of the fastest-growing and effective approaches to psychotherapy - Internal Family Systemsm Therapy.
see www.selfleadership.org/ or Inga's website for more details on this powerful and respectful therapy approach.
