Cheryl MacKinnon is a Registered Social Worker and Clinical Therapist. Cheryl specializes in Multi-generational Family Therapy (Dr. David Freeman). This includes; Family of Origin issues, parenting, attachment, adoption & foster care issues. She also works intensively with couples (Emotionally Focused Therapy – Dr. Susan Johnson.) dealing with issues of communication, intimacy, self-esteem & boundaries. Other strengths include working with survivors of abuse; physical, sexual & emotional abuse, and Adult Children of Alcoholics & Co-dependency.
Cheryl is particularly interested in the “meaning” made of trauma and the interventions that promote resiliency. She is experienced in Critical Incident Stress Management work, Post Traumatic Stress (PTSD), Child Protection and Custody & Access cases.
Cheryl honors diversity and is authorized as a Level 1 service provider for First Nations people through Health Canada. She has experience facilitating psycho-educational groups, supervising and instructing.
